IT HAS AN USE! If you click the cosmetic, a little song plays for 10 seconds. Personally its pretty cool and there should be more instruments on the cosmetic shop
You can have an infinite amount of cosmetics in your inventory. Since some update (idk which), 1 slot in your cosmetic inv is 1 same cosmetic, and there are only 470 cosmetics, you can literally have every cosmetic without worrying of your space running out
